That one special piece
I read an interesting article on IFB (Independent Fashion Bloggers) today. It asked bloggers to contribute a post about their ‘special piece’ of clothing that pulls an outfit together.
It really got me thinking.
Because I don’t just have one item. I have several. It’s because I enjoy experimenting with different looks sometimes. (For example, a fifties-style dress feels more appropriate with a chunky belt; whereas a blazer often looks best with a very thin and plain belt.)
But I do have a couple of staples for my looks. And they are, of course, all (mostly) second-hand.
If I feel like a classier look, I will always wear my Chanel hand bag.
If I feel an outfit needs a statement piece, I often wear my Tiffany key charm necklace.
I do also think that a plain trench coat and cardie (they must be nicely fitted and in a monochrome tone) can dress up any outfit.
You might have one favourite item that pulls everything together, though. I don’t – simply because I have too many clothes! I wear different key pieces for every outfit.
I had great fun reading some of the other stories in this project too. If you’d like to take a look, click here.
I hope you have as much fun as I do with key pieces. It’s one reason why I love op-shopping – you can find so many unique things that no one else has!
