The Mecwa store in Malvern

Mecwa Malvern

This little gem can be found at 136 Wattletree Road, Malvern – almost on the corner of Wattletree Road and Glenferrie Road. It’s quite a small op-shop, but has some lovely displays.

This teeny store is unusual because it is filled with designer bags – but before you get excited, they’re the carry bags from designer stores. Make sure you look up when visiting to see the array of vintage hat boxes and carry bags.

The store does also occasionally get designer bags, much to my enjoyment. I’ve found a vintage Oroton glomesh clutch here for $30. There is also some truly beautiful fashion items at times – the luxury of visiting an op-shop in an area like Malvern. The store is neatly laid out, and it’s easy to find things.

Prices aren’t too bad. They do know quality though, and will charge about $30-40 for an Armani suit, for example. But as I still consider that a bargain, anything cheaper is just a bonus!

The volunteers here are also a big positive about visiting this store. I love chatting to the ladies from here, they always make me smile.

The only possible downside to this store is it’s size. But the volunteer’s make the most of the room they do have, and it’s an incredibly delightful store to visit.
