The Love Vintage show was held at the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton from 18-20 May. And I must say, it was spectacular!
The Love Vintage Show was like a huge market of vintage goods. This included anything from original prints to shoes to silverware. There were numerous stall holders selling all these things.
It wasn’t as big as I was expecting, but there was still a fantastic array of vintage wear and items for people of all tastes. Whether you were after a pair of pearl Chanel clip-on earrings, a sequinned corset or a snake-skin bag; it was all there.
The one thing I found really disappointing about the event was that almost everyone reacted badly to any photography. Here we were, surrounded by so many beautiful things and if we so much as raised our cameras people thought we were trying to steal design ideas!
“Actually, I just wanted to give you some free publicity on my blog…”
Luckily, there were a few lovely women who let Erica and myself take some snaps. The first was a lady from Circa Collectables, where I fell in love with a pair of sunglasses. Sadly, not something I could justify buying!
Erica also knew Linda from Recycology (who was happy to have a chat and for her wares to be displayed on A Little Boutique Near Home), and this is where I really fell in love with some accessories. You may have noticed my snap of a doggie brooch from Fashionopolis last weekend? I saw my first one a few weeks ago, and just loved it. Now, I am the proud owner of my own!
Above is mine, but below are a few more items I loved from Recycology:
There was plenty to look at, but regrettably I couldn’t take many more photos. Here are some things I noted though:
- we got there at 11 am and it was already getting quite busy. By the time we left a couple of hours later, it was packed! Get in early to have first pick of the wares and some breathing space.
- There was some lovely looking food and drinks, but it was a bit pricey. I’d recommend taking your own.
- Lots of people bought along vintage trunks or little wheelie trolleys – I thought this was a great idea!
- Also, (and I sincerely stress this point), ask before using your camera.
All in all, it was a great experience and I’d love to go again next year. A big thanks again to Erica from Recycled Fashion for inviting me!
